Tip 1: Firstly check whether your USB Drive or Pen Drive is physically damaged or not. There might be a few cases where your USB drive connecting jack is bent. Try to connect by adjusting to the port.

Tip 2: Your laptop has two or three USB ports. Try to reconnect your USB drive to ports and check whether your USB device is recognized.

Open up the Control Panel and find select Power options. Next to your currently Selected plan > Select change plan settings > Select change advanced power settings > Select USB settings and double-click on USB selectively suspend > Select the drop-down menu of plug-in or battery > Select disable and click OK. This prevents your USB Drive from powering down.

Tip 10: Alter Power Management Settings For USB Drives.

Sometimes Updates won’t work in case if your system is turning USB controllers off. To check this press Windows + X on your keyboard and go to the Device Manager and find Universal Serial Bus Controllers on the list. Expand this menu right click on the first controller option which is Generic USB hub and go to its Properties click on Power Management and see for the tab that says Allow the Computer to Turn Off This Device To Save Power. if this box is checked, uncheck it and apply the changes. Now repeat the same process for all controller options on the list. Now disconnect the USB Drive and Reconnect it and check whether the USB Device Not Recognized  Error is fixed or not.

Tip 11:  Disable Fast Startup

Sometimes fast startup on Windows 10 does not give your system enough time to detect or recognize your USB device so just disable it following these steps. Press Windows + X and type Power Options and then click it. In the Power Options window click on the option that says Choose what the Power button do click and then click on Change setting that currently unavailable and Uncheck the option that says turn on Fast startup under shutdown settings. Now remove the USB drive and reconnect it and check whether the issue is fixed or not.

Tip 10: Unhide Empty Disk Drives

Open the Control Panel and change the view to Large icons. Now from displayed control panel items select and click on File Explorer Options. Now go to the View bar and make sure that Hide Empty Drives is Unchecked. Click on Apply and Ok. Disconnect the USB drive and connect again to Pc/Laptop. Check whether your issue is resolved or not.
